"Build back better": our letters to EU leaders and the UK's Prime Minister
We're calling on world leaders to put the UN's Sustainable Development Goals at the heart of coronavirus recovery plans

Authors
In the last week we have joined two coalitions calling on leaders in the UK and Europe to "build back better": to put sustainability and the transition to a low carbon economy at the heart of Covid-19 recovery plans. Again demonstrating our commitment to use our influence for good.
In the UK
We have written to Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask that the Sustainable Development Goals – part of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – are used "as the basis for a socially just and green recovery". Putting the SDGs at the heart of Covid-19 recovery plans would:
- prioritise the most vulnerable and level up inequalities
- aid the transition to net zero
- unite all sectors behind a plan to build a stronger and more resilient economy
In Europe
We have joined an investor coalition representing €12 trillion of assets and written to EU leaders to push for a "green and sustainable recovery", and an "accelerated transition to a net zero emissions economy".
