60 seconds with Rick Stathers on responsible investing
Rick Stathers gives an overview of this quarter’s Responsible Investment Report, covering climate change risk, a UK perspective on the living wage and shipping emissions, along with the team’s work to protect shareholder rights.
In this quarter's Responsible Investment Report we assess the impact of environmental regulation on the operating costs of global shipping companies.
We also introduce the topic of the living wage in the UK. We look at the effect the living wage might have on the operating costs of UK businesses, and the potential beneficial impact it might have on the productivity of staff.
We examine climate change risk to portfolio value and provide some solutions to the level of risk posed.
We highlight our activities around recent regulations within Europe, which we are concerned could have an impact on minority shareholder rights.
At a high level we have summarised our responsible engagement with companies over the quarter as well as the 771 AGMs at which we have voted.
