Interim CEO

Stephen joined Big Society Capital in 2016 as Head of Strategy and Market Development and stepped in as Interim CEO in May 2020 whilst they recruit for the permanent position. Stephen continues with his overall responsibility for strategy and their relationship with government. He was previously Director, Criminal Justice Policy at the Ministry of Justice, and has held senior roles across many government departments.
Stephen is a trustee of Friends Provident Foundation, a charity that makes grants and uses its endowment towards a fair and sustainable economic system that serves society and Fair Trials, a global criminal justice watchdog which identifies when criminal justice is failing, alerts the world to problems and resolve issues.
