In the last week we have joined two coalitions calling on leaders in the UK and Europe to "build back better": to put sustainability and the transition to a low carbon economy at the heart of Covid-19 recovery plans. Again demonstrating our commitment to use our influence for good.

In the UK

We have written to Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask that the Sustainable Development Goals – part of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – are used "as the basis for a socially just and green recovery". Putting the SDGs at the heart of Covid-19 recovery plans would:

  1. prioritise the most vulnerable and level up inequalities
  2. aid the transition to net zero
  3. unite all sectors behind a plan to build a stronger and more resilient economy

In Europe

We have joined an investor coalition representing 12 trillion of assets and written to EU leaders to push for a "green and sustainable recovery", and an "accelerated transition to a net zero emissions economy".
